Myuk performs “Gift” theme for the film about a concierge at a department store for animals
The official website for The Concierge, the anime film adaptation of Tsuchika Nishimura‘s manga The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store (Hokkyoku Hyakkaten no Concierge-san), revealed its full trailer and poster visual for the film on Tuesday. The trailer introduces and previews the film’s theme song “Gift” by singer-songwriter Myuk. It also announces additional staff members and the film’s opening date on October 20.

Yoshimi Itazu (“Pigtails,” Welcome to the Ballroom, key animation on Popin Q) is making his directorial debut on a feature anime film, with Satomi Ooshima (Hataraki Man, Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko, Raven of the Inner Palace) penning the script and Aniplex handling distribution. Electronic music producer tofubeats is responsible for the film’s music. Chiyo Morita (Run with the Wind episode animation director) serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Production I.G is producing the film.
The manga centers on a new concierge at a mysterious department store where all the customers are animals. As a concierge, she tries to understand her peculiar customers and provide appropriate recommendations for them.
Nishimura serialized the manga in Shogakukan‘s Big Comic Zōkan magazine from November 2016 to 2020, spanning two volumes. The manga received the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in 2022.
